Custom Pet Hair Jewellery – Triangular Pendant

I was recently contacted by a gentleman who was hoping to have a custom pet hair necklace made as a birthday present for his friend. Here is the completed pendant, the pet hair has been encased within dark blue resin so that it is only faintly visible. The inverted triangular shaped sterling silver pendant is hung from a sterling silver fine curb necklace chain.

Berlin Wall custom paperweights

I was contacted recently by Judith who wanted some pieces of the Berlin Wall that she had collected to be encased inside three custom made paperweights.

These are all pieces of the Berlin Wall she broke off the week after the wall came down (when she was much younger and physically able).

How to set actual paw prints into memorial jewellery

I wrote an article a while back about my paw print pet memorial jewellery. These are resin pendants and other items of memorial jewellery containing pet hair or ashes, along with a silver paw print symbol, sometimes also combined with a name, small flowers etc. An example of one of my paw print pet memorial pendants can be seen below:

Resin vs glass memorial jewellery

I have recently noticed various sellers of glass memorial jewellery quote on their websites that resin jewellery is far inferior to glass. Whether the sellers are trying to protect their brand or simply do not have any experience or understanding of working with resin jewellery, so I thought I should clear up any false claims that have been made by some of these sellers.

I have had experience of using both resin and glass in my memorial jewellery over the last 17 years in fact some of my earliest resin jewellery, made 17 years ago for my wife, still looks like new today.

Can resin jewellery break if dropped?

Resin memorial jewellery is generally durable and is fairly shatter resistant compared to glass jewellery. I would be reluctant to put sentimental items such as ashes or hair from a loved one inside glass memorial jewellery.

Alfie the parrot keepsakes

This is one of the first pet keepsakes completed this year so I though I should share it!

I was contacted recently by Zac who wanted a set of keepsake keyrings making in memory of their family parrot Alfie. This is the message that I received:

“I am looking for some items to be made for a recent pet we lost (Alfie the parrot). I've seen your Facebook page and your items look really good.

I have a couple of grey feathers, some of his peanut shells and some of his rope swing he used to sit on. I was wondering if it would be possible to make up to three items with them things listed above.”

Later that week I received a package containing the items and prepared a design for the keyrings.

Flower petal fragments in jewellery

I am often asked whether I can work with fragments of flower petals and preserve these broken fragments within resin jewellery. I can of course work with broken pieces of flowers and petals, and have done on many occasions, resulting in beautiful pieces of jewellery.

This was the last pendant that I made last year, and I thought I should show it off and wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Champagne or wine bottle cork paperweight

I was contacted recently by a gentleman who had a champagne cork form a special celebration (along with a silver 2025 sixpence coin). He wanted both the cork and sixpence coin setting inside a resin cube paperweight and this was his initial design:

Bespoke memorial jewellery for two pets

Recently Jill asked me if I could make her both a custom designed set of earrings and necklace pendant, incorporating the fur and ashes of her two dogs Bessie and Ebony that had sadly passed away.

Jill wanted a single drop pendant to contain the fur of her two dogs, contained inside separate chambers, and similarly she wanted the ashes from her two dogs contained inside separate chambers within drop earrings.

This is the design I made for her for the memorial pendant:

Resin Horsehair jewellery – New additions

I thought I would highlight the new additions to my range of resin horsehair jewellery that I have made recently. I love working with horsehair within resin jewellery because of the lovely effects that can be achieved with the hair. Initially when I receive a sample of horsehair, it appears to be a single colour (brown/black), however after working with the individual strands of hair, I soon appreciate the beautiful variations of colours to the hair.

The following are a few of the custom-made resin horsehair jewellery items that I have recently made.

MS Society Charity Custom Paperweight

The MS Society (Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain)  have contacted me several times over the last few years to make custom branded paperweights for them. These are to be given as gifts to valued colleagues and supporters of the charity.

The MS Society is the UK’s largest charity for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis, a condition that effects a person’s central nervous system. The charity provides support and helps fund research into the condition.

The first custom paperweight that I was asked to make for the MS Society charity is this one:

Dog tag bespoke paperweight

I completed this bespoke paperweight late last year containing three dog tags. The story is that this pet dog lived in several addresses over her lifetime, so this would be a nice memorial for her. My customer sent me a design for the positioning of the dog tags inside the paperweight keepsake, along with the three dog tags.

I set the three dog tags inside a clear resin square shaped paperweight to a design that my customer required, and this is the completed paperweight.

Puppy tooth keepsake ring

Going back to 2017 I made my first item of jewellery containing a tooth, it was a puppy tooth set within a resin heart shaped keyring. Since then, I have made many different items of jewellery and paperweights containing teeth, and you can read all about them in my keepsake jewellery for teeth blog post.

Bespoke paperweight containing a prosthetic glass eye!

A lady named Pam contacted me recently and gave me a very unusual request for a bespoke paperweight to be custom-made. Pam wanted me to encase a prosthetic glass eye within a custom-made resin paperweight, with a message inside saying, ‘Keeping an eye on you.’

Bespoke paperweight containing a fishing fly

You may remember last year when I highlighted a paperweight that I made for Brenda from Ayrshire in Scotland containing fishing flies. The custom paperweight for fishing flies I made for Brenda at the time was square in shape and containing two flies and additional text.
