Resin Horsehair jewellery – New additions

I thought I would highlight the new additions to my range of resin horsehair jewellery that I have made recently. I love working with horsehair within resin jewellery because of the lovely effects that can be achieved with the hair. Initially when I receive a sample of horsehair, it appears to be a single colour (brown/black), however after working with the individual strands of hair, I soon appreciate the beautiful variations of colours to the hair.

The following are a few of the custom-made resin horsehair jewellery items that I have recently made.

Sterling silver ring containing horsehair

The first custom made order is a sterling silver ring containing a small amount of horse tail hair. As you can appreciate, a tiny amount of hair is required for this ring. In this case the resin setting has been coloured to a pale shade of pink however the ring settings can be left clear or coloured to a shade of any colour.

These sterling silver rope effect stud earrings measure just 5mm in diameter however can also be made in other styles and sizes. The resin has been left clear to show off the beautiful colours to the hair, however as with any of my jewellery items can be coloured to any colour.

Sterling silver stock pin brooch for horsehair

The sterling silver stock pin brooch oval setting measures 25mm x 18mm and lots of distinctive designs can be achieved with the hair. In this example I filled the brooch with the hose tail, whilst still being able to distinguish the individual strands of hair within clear resin.

Resin bracelet charm for horsehair

I was asked to create a personalised hanging bracelet charm containing the horse hair. I set the tail hair inside a clear resin heart shaped charm, with a blue forget me not flower and the horses initial. A sterling silver lobster clasp clip attached to the heart so that it could be attached to the customers bracelet.

And finally, I made a domed resin paperweight containing a swirl of horse mane hair.
