I was recently contacted by a gentleman who was hoping to have a custom pet hair necklace made as a birthday present for his friend. Here is the completed pendant, the pet hair has been encased within dark blue resin so that it is only faintly visible. The inverted triangular shaped sterling silver pendant is hung from a sterling silver fine curb necklace chain.

And here is the design brief that I was originally given, this was followed by several emails detailing assorted options to be considered, before we agreed upon the above design.
Custom pet hair pendant design brief
“I am writing this email as I am interested in buying a custom necklace which contains strands of animal hair (specifically dog and cat hair). I will provide further details below.
The pendant should be relatively simple, with the primary focus being to showcase and preserve the resin (or whichever material the animal hair will be encased in) in an elegant way. I have attached some reference images of designs that I particularly like. Of these, the inverted pyramid design is my preferred option, although I would be happy to hear your opinion on what would be most practical to create and what you feel would produce the best overall result.
In terms of style, I am aiming for something slightly witchy, mystical, and understated rather than overly ornate.
For the chain, the necklace is intended for a woman. I would therefore prefer a thinner silver chain (or any sort of metal silver like in colour).
Regarding the resin, I would like it to be a dark blue colour, with the hair strands either only faintly visible or completely obscured within the resin (leaning more towards faintly visible but depends on easiness of manufacturing)
I would also like to mention that this necklace is not intended as a memorial piece, as both pets are alive and well. The purpose is simply to allow her to carry a small part of them with her wherever she goes.”
I am completely open to customer requests and designs when it comes to providing them with a custom piece of pet hair jewellery.
