I am often asked whether I can work with fragments of flower petals and preserve these broken fragments within resin jewellery. I can of course work with broken pieces of flowers and petals, and have done on many occasions, resulting in beautiful pieces of jewellery.

There is likely to be many reasons for wanting fragments or broken pieces of flowers and petals to be preserved in items of jewellery. The common reason is that the flowers have been kept from a special occasion, such as a wedding or funeral without adequate preservation. Over time the flowers or petals have become brittle and disintegrated.
The following are just a few of the examples of jewellery that I have previously made, incorporating a few fragments of flowers and petals.
Here is a resin heart shaped pendant containing broken fragments of flowers. There are several types and colours of petals incorporated into the design and the three-dimensional nature of the resin pendant really does show off the colours and textures of the flowers.

And finally, a resin keepsake paperweight containing rose petals, scattered throughout the paperweight.

As an alternative to incorporating broken pieces of flower petals into the design, flowers from bouquets can be ground down, compressed and formed into items of resin jewellery, therefore preserving the memories of the special occasion.
