I have previously made many bespoke paperweights and other items of jewellery for companies to give as retirement gifts to their employees. These have often contained components that the company manufactures, company logos and company badges.

I was contacted recently by a company that manufactures personalised buttons. These buttons are primarily used by care homes to label the clothes of the elderly, The buttons allow items of clothing to be tagged with owners names to improve the organisation of items of clothing and therefore reduce clothing loss, The company requested that I set the buttons within a paperweight, each laser-etched to form the retirement message; this can be seen here:

I love being asked by companies to make bespoke items that are given to people as retirement gifts. I appreciate the many years that these people have devoted to the company, and it is an honour to be asked to make something so sentimental to mark this special life achievement.
